Send today’s session

Install and open the Windows companion once, then enable automatic companion launches in GTF. Play now opens the companion and requests the Steam game together, with no separate Start session step. The native window begins when a visible process is detected in the game installation folder. Launch links contain only game title, Steam app ID and duration.

Automatic history and installations

The companion checks completed Steam installation manifests and detects visible processes in those game folders. The heatmap counts observed running intervals rather than requested launches, previews or unobserved sleep gaps. Paused games and menus may count while the process runs. Install state and history require the companion and browser permission to connect to it locally. The browser automatically runs a bounded download-only Cloudflare speed test, shows the measured Mbps and caches the result in this tab for up to 30 minutes. Download estimates use compressed public-branch Windows/English base-game depot bytes where Steam exposes them, including resolved shared depots. DLC, other languages, Steam server performance, decompression and updates can change actual installation time. Missing transfer size stays unknown; installed storage requirements are not substituted.

Plan ahead with friends

Create or respond to planned sessions in the companion while the connected website is open to save changes, then choose the preparation reminder lead time. A preparation reminder appears near the planned start with the title, friends and time, plus a prompt to get ready or tell friends you may be late. Open GTF to send the prepared Steam message yourself. Plans refresh while GTF is open; offline or closed-browser changes can leave a reminder snapshot stale until refreshed.

Stay in control

The companion stays in the Windows tray when you close its window. Extensions show their count and total added time. Finish a detected-game session starts a save-and-stop reminder every two minutes until the game process ends or you stop reminders. Start with Windows is optional. No game is paused, injected into or forcibly stopped.

Check actual local activity

For a selected installed Steam game, the companion can match a running executable to that game’s Steam installation folder. If access or installation details are unavailable, it says so. A launch request is not proof that a game is running.

Keep your account in the browser

Steam sign-in stays on the website. The protected local connection passes your Steam ID, friend IDs/names and eligible game names to support native planning. The companion receives no API key, password, account cookie or achievements. Local installation and process-path information stays on your computer.

Choose your reminder style

GTF uses a single native reminder card with Extend and Finish controls, without a duplicate Windows banner. Gentle mode stays at the bottom right without taking focus; optional strict check-in centres the card and takes focus. Exclusive fullscreen games may require Borderless / Windowed fullscreen. The Windows build is a local testing release; public release and signing are pending.
